Police chase leads to car crash, 2 people dead

A two-vehicle car crash happened at the corner of Highway 125 and Enigma Road on Tuesday afternoon, November 12, leaving two passengers dead on the scene and one seriously injured.

Police said authorities were chasing Tim Rutland when ran a stop sign while going around 75 to 80 miles-per-hour. His truck then collided with an SUV in which Matthew Horton, Kelly Prescot, and Heidi Mancil were riding. The crash immediately left Horton and Prescot dead, while Mancil sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Tallahassee.

Rutland, now recuperating from a back injury in Macon, has been charged with multiple offenses. Among them are felony fleeing, aggravated assault on a police officer, and attempt to escape.
